Script
(Shaking hands, questioning) God, how could this devastation have happened? How could this harm, this horror, have occurred? (Angry) Innocent people I loved are gone! Forever. (Walks)
(Looks left) Didn't we watch our border? (Looks right) Were we complacent? (Looks straight) Didn't we recognize our enemy? This enemy was among us; yet, we didn't see. "The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; who can understand it?" (1) (Walks, pensive)
Our hearts were cold, complacent. We were possessed with pleasure, status. We forgot our God, our nation. We confess our sin; we're troubled by our sin. Grant forgiveness. Shine Your face upon us. Do not turn away. Grant victory in battle. Strengthen our hope. Increase our perseverance. Go before us. Give us discernment, sound judgment. Watch over our families and homeland. Destroy, confuse our enemies, those who don't honor Your Name.
Our people are pierced, yet our nation's heart is strong.
We're despised, rejected; yet bound together to rebuild.
We're devastated in spirit; yet we rejoice in tomorrow's hope.
Tired, yet our faith is strong for tomorrow.
Attacked! We will search out and punish our attacker.
We forgot You God, but we seek to return to You through our sin.
We forgot our fathers' sacrifice; we awoke to new national pride.
We're not apart, nor conquered in spirit! We are united, committed
with resolve to rebuild one another, our nation, and our faith in God.
"All my longings lie open before You, O Lord; my sighing is not hidden from You.
Those who seek our lives set their traps, those who would harm us talk of our ruin;
all day long they plot deception.
I wait for You, O Lord; You will answer, O Lord my God.
'Do not let them gloat or exalt themselves over me when my foot slips.'
Many are those who are my vigorous enemies; those who hate me without reason are numerous.
Those who repay my good with evil slander me when I seek what is good.
O Lord, do not forsake me; be not far from me, O my God.
Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior." (2)
We are "looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God." (3) "For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come." (4) Our hope is in God, the Maker of Heaven and Earth.
